Town Talk Silver Polishing Cloth

Town Talk have been making silver care products in Britain since 1895. This is their original impregnated cloth: 100% cotton, charged with a cleaning agent and an anti-tarnish agent.

The cleaning agent takes the tarnish off. The anti-tarnish agent stays on the metal afterwards and slows the next lot down, so a piece you wear often needs doing less.

The cloth goes black as you use it. Town Talk say that is a chemical reaction rather than dirt collecting, and that it means the cloth is doing its job. Do not wash it — washing strips the agents out and the cloth stops working. Replace it when both sides are black through.

On stamped work, use it on the raised and flat surfaces. The dark sitting down in the stamped lines is part of the piece. Work the cloth into those lines and it will come out.
